Kids Summer Watercolor Camp

This is an in-home Summer Watercolor Camp that will cover foundational art and watercolor techniques in a unique way, as we embrace several aspects of the Charlotte Mason method, including literature (living books and/or poetry), nature studies, and tea time. 
Charlotte Mason believed “we are all meant to be naturalists” and I want to encourage that in your child. My hope is to encourage creativity as we reflect upon beauty through literature and nature and be inspired to create art as a result of it. Painting what they see or read about helps their spongelike brains absorb knowledge more deeply, so as we read a living book or seasonal poetry, we will pull whatever nature we can from it and using watercolor techniques and methods, I will teach the students to paint scenes or nature journal from our readings. In addition, will head outdoors and nature journal with various handy tools, learning both art techniques and more about nature itself. 
My hope during this class is to bring to life the richness of beauty surrounding not only art, books, and nature, but in life as well, so as we end our session we will celebrate with a cup of “tea”. During this time, the children will be able to paint with “tea-time” friendly mediums while I read poetry aloud. It is every child’s favorite day of art class and sure to be an unforgettable childhood memory!
